Most of the lists and reviews that showcase which Korean-based cleanser that gives superb results and COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser will likely be on the list. The cult-favorite cleanser is still going strong for a good reason, and I suppose this is a sign that a beauty company needs to formulate a product from the feedback of their customers? Because it does. And here’s a review about the ‘it’ cleanser.
The back story of COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser
It’s true, COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser was formulated thanks to countless feedback of customers and fans of the brand, where there’s a need for a skincare product - preferably cleanser - to be in low pH. Fast forward to a few months and the cleanser is out in the market - and surprisingly is still a bestseller among COSRX products!
The reason why low pH cleansers make all the fuss is simply because as our skin’s surface (known as epidermis) is slightly acidic, a cleanser with a similar pH value is suitable as it will do the job without affecting the skin’s surface that can potentially erode the barrier (that‘s what causes us to feel some sort of ‘tight’ feel after cleansing) and this feature is a heaven-sent for anyone with dry and sensitive skin types. And the good thing about this cleanser the formula also works for all skin types that we can enjoy the benefits of a low pH skincare product in our routine,
The gel-based cleanser with mild fragrance (though the slight ‘medicinal’ smell might be off-putting for anyone else but at least it fades off rather quickly) is formulated to be a foam cleanser that lathers up well when mixed with a bit of water.
The cleanser does the job well well to wash off accumulated sebum, impurities, and dirt from the night before, as well as washes of makeup well without so much scrubbing (this, assuming you’re having light makeup), and after the washing routine, the skin feels nourished and supple, thanks to various oils and extracts formulated in the cleanser such as tea tree oil, evening primrose oil, antioxidants, betaine salicylate (a form of salicylic acid) and allantoin.
Rest assured, even with the word ‘good morning’ on the label of the tub, you can still use the cleanser at night for the same superb cleansing result. The reason is probably the cleanser is marketed as something that can ‘wakes up’ your skin as the formula and scent is a bit refreshing although the efficacy would the same.
In our opinion, COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser does a good job in cleansing your skin and the formula is probably the main reason why it's still a bestseller until today. The cleanser is suitable not only for first-timers venturing in a Korean skincare routine but also for anyone with concerns with their skin (especially the skin barrier), such as dry, sensitive skin types.
